Designed for a young professional family, construction on Buderim House has just commenced on a steep bush site on the northern slopes of Buderim Mountain. The building platform and a lush plunge pool takes advantage of a pre-existing cut on the site, projecting off the slope into the eucalypt canopy. One roof canopy wraps public and private pavilions either side of an open timber breezeway that will provide light lofty spaces for living and sleeping up in the tree tops. Stunning views are framed through the northern decks and internal spaces formed with the natural material palette of polished concrete and modular plywood, polycarbonate and and fibre cement sheets. It was important for us and the client that the design of this home celebrated and fit into the surrounding landscape and terrain of the site, rather than fight against it.
